In 1972, the Lewis Danforth Scholarship Fund was established to commemorate the life of Brother Lewis Danforth. He was a faithful, devoted member of Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. In 1973, the first scholarships were awarded to two college bound students. Over the years, the scholarships eligibility criteria was expanded, and the cash awards increased. The Lewis Danforth Endowment Fund was established in 2002. The Student Book Award was also established to assist Greater New Hope college students with book and instructional material fees.
